Digital Inclusion in Education and Social Protection for All (Tuesday, 9 February 2021 from 08:30 to 10:00 (EST)) ****** 2:30 PM WAT
This event took place as scheduled and the panellists gave exhaustive discussion on the reasons for digital inclusiveness. There were also issues about those that may be left behind including minority groups but there was strong voice that government action in collaboration with digital technology providers should ensure that no one is left out. A survey was conducted among the participants on;
- Should Internet connection be a fundamental right of people? 91% of respondents said YES.
- How should it be made fundamental right? 40% being the highest respondents, echoed it should be made a new piece of legislation. Meanwhile, since the percentage gap to the next response was close, it is our opinion that attention should be given to the other responses to find a common ground for the implementation.
