UNITED NATIONS DAY ON ZERO TOLERANCE TO FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION

OUR ZOOM LECTURE ON THE ABOVE TOPIC HOLDS TODAY 06/02/2021.

A little study carried out on this practice shows that it is an endemic culturally rooted practice with no definable benefit to the victim or the society at large. If there are definable results, they are the Physical, Psychological and Psychosocial challenges the survivor suffers for life which also affects her personality, work and family relationships.

So what is Female Genital Mutilation or circumcision? Should parts of a human being be cut while alive with no anaesthesia to reduce pain or in a hygienic environment and hygiene materials to prevent infection? Is it a crime? In which parts of Nigeria, Africa and the world is this practiced? Is there any age bracket or condition when a lady cannot be circumcised in these communities or elsewhere? What should counsellors learn in order to help the survivors heal and normalise? The Association of Christian Counsellors of Nigeria (Organisation in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council since 2017) joins other organisations all over the world to mark the United Nations Zero Tolerance Day and “SAY NO TO FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION”. The experts are ready and live testimonies from Nairobi Kenya will also be given.

Time: 12 noon TODAY.

Venue:  Zoom link as attached below.

Send in your questions about this practice. The organisers will send them to the speakers. Thanks and see you all.
