Civil Society Forum 2024

All signatures received by NGOs and individuals from around the world will be shared with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and Governments at the opening of the 62nd Session of the UN Commission for Social Development.

The Commission for Social Development has been the key UN body in charge of the follow-up and implementation of the Copenhagen Declaration and Programme of Action.

The 62nd session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD62) will take place from February 5th-14th, 2024 in a hybrid (in-person and digital) format and will address the following Priority Theme: “Fostering social development and social justice through social policies to accelerate progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to achieve the overarching goal of poverty eradication”. The Commission will also commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family.

About the Civil Society Forum

 

During the UN Commission for Social Development, the NGO Committee is dedicated to raising awareness on the Priority Theme and bringing the voices, experiences, and recommendations from the grassroots. The NGO Committee holds a Civil Society Forum and other capacity-building and network events on the occasion of the Commission.

Sunday, February 4th, 2024| Orientation Session

The objective of the Orientation Session is to introduce participants to the Commission’s organization of work, as well as the Priority Theme that will shape the debate of its 62nd session. The session will be virtual in 2024.

Friday, February 9th, 2024| Civil Society Forum Day

Join us in-person for 9am-3pm in the United Nations as high-level stakeholders and civil society convene on the priority theme. Panels, networking opportunities and justice-themed entertainment will provide a timely focus and recommendations.

Morning Briefings (three throughout the Commission)

During these briefings, Member States who are part of the Bureau, UN DESA and NGOs come together for thirty minutes to get the latest updates on the Commission’s daily program and to ask questions. Briefings will be in a virtual format in 2024.
